Funeral services for Ralph Evans, 99, of Estherville, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91, both of Estherville. Ralph died on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home in Estherville.

Visitation was held Sunday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Ralph Thomas Evans the son of Milton and Florence (Whitehead) Evans was born October 9, 1924, in Maynard, Minnesota.   

He received his education and graduated from Estherville High School in 1942. Ralph served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict 1949-1951.

On September 21, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mavis Paulsen at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ringsted. The couple made their home in Estherville and Ralph was a parts manager for Estherville Implement until he retired in 1988.  For hobbies, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, watching sports especially baseball, helping on the farm with harvest, camping and gardening. His grandchildren brought great joy to his life.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Left to cherish Ralph’s memory are his wife, Mavis of Estherville; children, Thomas (Margaret) Evans of Estherville; Douglas (Susan) Evans of Terril; Kristine Torrence of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Rebecca (David) Johnson of Estherville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Bart (Irene) Evans of Donna, Texas and sister, Ann Brown of Wenatchee, Washington. He has been preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jeanne Schroeder and Virginia Evans; in-laws, Darlene and Leonard Swartz, Louise and Roger Rochleau, Gerald Paulsen and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or Avera Hospice.
