James (Jim) Kenneth Huntsinger, 84, of Birmingham, AL., passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born May 20,1939 to Kenneth J. and Mable (Moore) Huntsinger in Estherville, IA.
He graduated from Estherville High School in 1958 and attended Alexian Brothers School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. He worked as a Research Technician at Stanford University, Stanford, CA., in the mid-1960s under Doctor Norman Schumway, an early pioneer of heart transplantation. He later transitioned into advertising and public relations and various philanthropic roles.
Jim was a caring father and grandfather who never tired of hearing about the accomplishments and adventures of his family.
Jim was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his son, James Huntsinger, Jr. (Karen) of Birmingham, AL; and his grandchildren, Megan Huntsinger, Houston, TX and Drew Huntsinger, Washington D.C.; brother Barry Huntsinger (Marcia) of Estherville and nieces Carmen Davis, Fayetteville, AR, Heidi (Rob) Goebel, Estherville and Brenda Huntsinger, Kailua, HI.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date at Prince of Peace Catholic church in Hoover, AL.
