Funeral services for Harvey Hanson, 89, of Armstrong, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2023, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong with Vicar Kim Kacmarynski officiating. Interment will be at Swan Lake Township Cemetery, Gruver. Harvey died on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Friday at the church in Armstrong.
Harvey Blaine Hanson the son of Howard and Lillian (Anderson) Hanson was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Armstrong, Iowa.
Harvey received his education at Halfa grade school and Graettinger High School. He served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957 where he was stationed in Japan.
On July 13, 1957, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Bonstead. The couple farmed for many years until the fall of 2012 when Harvey retired from farming and the couple moved into Armstrong. For hobbies, he enjoyed collecting antique tractors and motors, Redwing pottery and crocks and spending time at the cabin.
He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.
Left to cherish Harvey’s memory are his wife, Marilyn of Armstrong; children, Eric (Shelly) Hanson of Emmetsburg; Amy (Roger) Lowe of Estherville; four grandchildren, Hillary Hanson (Chase Westercamp) and Holden (Ashley) Hanson; Krista (Jake) Masters and Katie (Matt) Harris; brother, Harlan (Barbara) Hanson of Florida; brother-in-law, Joe Raffety; sister-in-law, Shirley Schacherer; brother-in-law, John (Margaret) Bonstead; and several nieces and nephews.
He has been preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Alice Raffety, and brother-in-law Louie Schacherer.
