Charles E. Nourse, son of Herb and Lillian (Dahna) Nourse was born on May 10, 1930, in Estherville, Iowa.

Charles may have been known by many names: Charles, Charlie, Chuck, or Toad; but was always known to be a good and kind man. Charlie attended Estherville Schools. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 6, 1951, and served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged November 5, 1953. While home on leave he was united in marriage to Arlene Houge at Petersburg, Minnesota on December 22, 1952. He returned home to Estherville, where he was employed at John Morrell’s for 34 years. Upon the closing of the plant, Toad went to work for Sunrise Housing for the next 20 years. He lived his entire life in the Estherville Area.

Charlie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church board and choir. He served on many credit union boards throughout the years, including Employees Credit Union since 1966, Iowa Credit Union League for nine years, and treasurer for the Great Lakes Chapter of Credit Unions. He enjoyed singing in the Many Voices Choir. Charlie continued to stay active throughout his life; he could be found on the golf course, going on fishing trips and yearly deer hunting trips with friends, walking around town or at the Regional Wellness Center, or out for a bike ride. On Charlie’s 90th birthday he went sky diving.

Charlie is survived by his son Mark Nourse (Kathy Tisdale) of Ogden, Utah: grandchildren: Sarah (Jason) Nourse Bourgoine, Adam (Stephanie) Nourse, Abby (Travis) Nieman, and Kate Jensen; and great-grandchildren: Lauren, Jonah, Bailey, Liam, Everly, Addison, and Aidan.
