I believe the city council should address the fireworks issue:

The city council faces three choices for the local fireworks ordinance: keep it as it is – city residents must be approved for a permit with proof of insurance in order to set off fireworks; remove the permit requirement and allow fireworks on any of the dates allowed under Iowa state code, or; ban consumer fireworks within city limits altogether. Display fireworks for events like Sweet Corn Days and the Emmet County Fair would continue.
