Robert “Bob” Leroy Twito passed away on July 9, 2026, in Anchorage, Alaska. Bob was born in Estherville, Iowa September 24, 1952, the son of Parnell and Algeta Twito.
He was baptized and confirmed at Estherville Lutheran Church, and was a 1971 graduate of Estherville High School.
He was a skilled butcher throughout his career, most recently with Mike’s Quality Meats in Eagle River, AK, processing and delivering to over 200 remote locations in Alaska.
Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting, and his business, “Black Bear Firearms,” collecting and trading black powder firearms, accessories, and pelts at rendezvous in Alaska and northwestern states. He also loved his grandkids very much, making many memories with them.
Bob is survived by Ronnie, his life partner of 38 years; son Daniel (Mary); grandchildren, Caitlyn (Paul) Larson, Nicholas, Kiley, and Joseph; great-grandson Nolan Larson of Bethel, AK; sisters Diane (Jerry) Begley of Battle Lake, MN and Sandra (Craig) Sorbo of Estherville, IA; nieces Lynda (Chad) Markwardt of Story City, IA and Julie Begley-Schmidt (Tony Schmidt) of Chicago, IL; nephews Scott (Angie) Sorbo of Graettinger, IA and Bryan (Kim) Sorbo of Estherville, IA; aunt Leann (Twito) Paulson, formerly of Estherville, currently of Eden Prairie, MN; many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Parnell and Algeta Twito; grandparents Emlet and Lillian Twito and Amos and Minnie Boyster of Estherville; aunts and uncles Carmen (Bob) Hansen formerly of Estherville and Mesa, Arizona, Gloria (Don) Alger of Spencer, Iowa, Virginia (Gaylord) Knutson formerly of Dolliver, IA and Mayfield, Kentucky, David Paulson formerly of Wallingford, Iowa and Eden Prairie, Minnesota; cousins Kathy Alger of Spencer, Iowa, and Barbara (Hansen) Malinauskas of Murray, Ky.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Estherville Lutheran Church.
