Funeral services for Norman Rasmussen, 85, of Ringsted, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 at United Lutheran Church in Ringsted. Interment will be held at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted. He died on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at his home in Ringsted.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15, and from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 at the church in Ringsted.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to United Lutheran Cemetery Fund or Happy Hoofers Relay for Life.
Norman Iver Rasmussen the son of Thorvald and Christina (Nelson) Rasmussen was born October 5, 1939, in Ringsted, Iowa.
He received his education and graduated from Ringsted High School.
Norman lived his entire life in Ringsted. He farmed for many years and worked for ArtsWay Manufacturing for 27 years. He was married to Mary Ann Davis and the couple later divorced. For hobbies, Norman enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, hanging out and socializing with friends.
He was an active member of United Lutheran Church where he served on various church boards and was also on the Ringsted Telephone Board and St. John’s Cemetery Board.
Left to cherish Norman’s memory are his children, Julie of Spirit Lake; Kelly Rasmussen of Ringsted; Michael (Teresa) Rasmussen of Ringsted; Susan Rasmussen of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Amanda Morris of Ringsted; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Arne (Mary) Rasmussen of Milford; Erik Rasmussen and special friend, Cathy of Mankato, Minnesota; Marie (Bob) Godfredsen of Sibley; and James (Julie) Rasmussen of Mesa, Arizona.
He has been preceded in death by his parents and nephew, John Rasmussen.
