Mark Jay Raboin

Posted

Mark Jay Raboin was born on January 22, 1954, in Slayton, Minnesota to the late John “Jay” Mark and Irene Helen (Baranowski) Raboin. He received his education in the Slayton Public Schools, graduating in the Class of 1972. He then furthered his education at Jackson Vo-Tech where he received his journeyman lineman certification.

On August 23, 1980, Mark was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Nitchals in Jackson, Minnesota. Mark worked at a job he loved, Federated Rural Electric for 32 years. They became his second family. After his electrocution in 2006, he retired. Mark did not slow down in retirement. He had a love for hunting and was an avid bowhunter while also pursuing fox, coyotes, and waterfowl. Mark had a den full of trophies to emphasize his passion. If Mark was not hunting, he was tinkering with his collection of Mopar vehicles. Mark and Barb enjoyed working together refurbishing furniture. Mark felt his biggest achievement in life were his children and grandchildren. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.

Mark had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them hunting, talking cars, or his weekly happy hour with the guys at his house. Mark’s caring nature and willingness to help anyone who needed it will be dearly missed.

Mark had been battling cancer and was recently placed in hospice care in his home where he passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on Sunday evening, December 11, 2022 at the age of 68 years.

Left to cherish Mark’s memory are his wife of 42 years, Barb Raboin of Jackson; two children, Jason Foster of Arlington; Ryan Foster of Estherville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Tora and Bryce Stainbrook, and Estella Foster; three sisters, Yvonne (Bob) Weber of Bella Vista, AR; Deb Raboin of Bella Vista, AR; Marcia Raboin (twin sister) of Bella Vista, AR; brother-in-law, Richard Nitchals of Gruver, IA; daughter-in-law, Sondra Foster of Henderson; sister-in-law, Jody Crocker of Estherville, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Jon and Irene Raboin; in-laws, Ed and Salley Nitchals; Duane and Daryl Nitchals; and Richard Torrance.
