Jason Robert Bendixen, the son of Robert Bendixen and Sandi (Langmo) Woodley, was born on September 12, 1971, in Estherville, Iowa. At the age of 54, he passed away at his home in Estherville on August 8, 2026, after a brief battle with lung cancer. A visitation for Jason was held on the evening of Wednesday, August 12. A funeral service for Jason will be held on Thursday, August 13 at 11AM at the Henry Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Kirby Place at Walsh Family Village, (a division of Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls). Friends and family are encouraged to dress casually or wear Harley Davidson attire in honor of Jason.

Jason graduated from Estherville High School with the class of 1989. Following high school, he briefly attended Iowa State University before moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He lived there for the next 17 years selling cars and making home improvements. In 2005, he returned to the community that he was passionate about, Estherville. He worked at Jacobsen-Westergard and Associates for 17 years, before opening Sun City Tanning Salon in Estherville.

Jason was united in marriage to Sara (Miller) Montandon on August 12, 2017, in Estherville. The couple was a strong advocate for community involvement. Jason was a member of the Estherville Sweet Corn Days Committee, Estherville Ambassadors, and was a past board member for the Estherville Chamber of Commerce. Although he liked to grumble about doing the things, he really did enjoy supporting the community that raised him and always showed up when help was needed.

If it had a motor, then Jason most likely enjoyed being around it. He loved motorcycle trips, four-wheeler rides, snowmobiling, and his corvette. Whenever Jason was around it was a good time, he enjoyed loud music and a good tan. Jason was known for his “camp” fires at the house. Quite often Jason could be found outside with the grandkids tinkering with something.

Jason is survived by his wife Sara Bendixen; children Melissa Bendixen, Joseph Bendixen, and Michael (Kylie) Moore; stepchildren Justin (Amy) Montandon, Zach (Molly) Montandon, and Carissa (Wade) Chambers; and seven grandchildren Jase, Riley, Brayden, Braylee, Easton, Aria, and Mara. He is also survived by his mother Sandi Woodley; stepmother Janet Bendixen; and stepsisters Shane (Todd) Wilmes and Stacie (Bruce) Ring.

Jason is preceded in death by his father Robert Bendixen; stepfather Gary Woodley; maternal grandparents Clayton Langmo and Juanita and Harold Elwood; and paternal grandparents Roy Bendixen and Darlene Seylar.
