Dennis Tyrrell, 84, of Okoboji passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his home in Okoboji.

A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, at the First Lutheran Church in Milford. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Dennis Lee Tyrrell was born on July 9, 1939, to Charles and Lilly (Schulze) Tyrrell in Fort Dodge, IA. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School and earned his Associate Degree in Business from Commercial College in Mankato, MN. He was united in marriage to Patricia Bueoy on October 10, 1959, in Fort Dodge, IA. Dennis spent his working career in the egg production and manufacturing business. He worked the majority of his career as a Manager for Estherville Foods in Estherville, IA.

Dennis was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Milford. He donated his time volunteering and was a member of the Estherville Kiwanis. He sat on the boards of the Avera Holy Family Foundation and North Star Bank. In his free time, he was a natural card shark and loved playing cards, especially Bridge and 500. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a huge fan and cheered on the LA Dodgers and Iowa Hawkeye sports teams.

He is survived by his wife Pat Tyrrell of Okoboji, IA; children Annette (Tom) Zebedee of Jackson, MN; Ken (Tami) Tyrrell of Spirit Lake, IA; and Tina (Bruce) Zebedee of Estherville, IA; grandchildren Nolan (Samantha) Zebedee, Derek Zebedee, Tyler Zebedee, Matthew (Jessica) Zebedee, Kelly (Kyle) Grems, Nathan (Brialyn) Zebedee, Trevar (Nicole) Tyrrell; and 8 great grandchildren; sisters Kay Tyrrell of Schaller, IA and Connie Tyrrell of Fort Dodge, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Delores and Karen, brother Ron and brothers-in-laws Randy and Larry.

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Sonstegard-Tyrrell Scholarship Foundation.  Dennis and his wife Pat helped establish this foundation back in 1988 and continue to support it.  The foundation helps provide financial assistance towards college and technical education pursuits of employees and their family members at Estherville Foods and its sister companies.  Contributions can be mailed to: Sonstegard Foods, 5005 S Bur Oak Pl, Sioux Falls, SD 57108.
