Funeral services for Deanna Kay Sorbo, 79, of Estherville, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. Deanna passed away surrounded by her family on Oct. 3, 2026, at the Estherville Community Care Center in Estherville, after a short but extremely brave battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church on Friday.
Deanna Kay (Linn) Sorbo was born on Aug. 28, 1947, in Estherville, Iowa to Leonard and Neomi (Clabaugh) Linn.
Deanna graduated from Estherville High School. In her younger years she worked at the Gardston Hotel. On Sept. 23, 1967, she was united in marriage to Eugene Sorbo at the Estherville Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Estherville. Deanna worked at Berkley’s until Lynette was born. She then began her favorite job as a full-time mom and homemaker.
Deanna was a lifelong member of Estherville Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family. Deanna has an extensive collection of bells and cookbooks. She was a devoted mother and was a Girl Scout Leader for Lynette’s troop and oversaw many area troops. Fishing was also a favorite past time of Deanna.
Deanna is survived by her husband, Eugene Sorbo of Estherville; her daughter, Lynette Sorbo of Estherville; her sisters, Wanda (Dale) Knudson and Sonia (Marc) Moore; brothers-in-law, Patrick Jasper and Craig (Sandy) Sorbo and sister-in-law, Donnis Sorbo.
Deanna is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Neomi Linn; her sister, Julia Jasper; and brother-in-law, Jerry Sorbo. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.henryolsonfuneral.com.
