Funeral services for Annabelle Halsrud Peton, 98, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Kathy Kluis officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Annabelle Sytsma was born on December 8, 1924, to John and Mary (McComb) Sytsma in Palo Alto County, Iowa. She received her education in District 2323 in Middletown Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. On June 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Herman M. Halsrud at Jackson, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived and raised a family in Estherville, Iowa. Annabelle was employed as a cook and nutritionist at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa until her retirement after 25 years. Annabelle and Herman enjoyed many years together in their retirement. Annabelle especially enjoyed camping and fishing with Herman in many areas across the mid-west. She was a loving wife and mother who put the needs of others before her own. After Herman’s death in 2003, Annabelle married Clifford Peton, who passed died in 2007.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Melvin and Florence Halsrud of Wallingford, Iowa, and Clyde and Antonella Halsrud of Charlotte Hall, Maryland; stepson, James and Debbie Peton of Arizona and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, daughter Beverly Lind, parents, brothers and sisters, and other relatives.
