Daryl, son of Ed and Sally Nitchals, was born on November 25th, 1954, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away surrounded by family on July 12th, 2022, at home in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
After attending Estherville High School, Daryl served in the United States Marine Corps. He married Tammy (Downs) Nitchals in 1977. They had four children and eventually made their home in River Falls, Wisconsin. Daryl retired from the Minnesota Department of Corrections where he served 20 years as a prison guard. Daryl enjoyed reading, cracking jokes, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Daryl is survived by his children, Jake (Eliso) Nitchals; Jessica (Travis) Nitchals; Joseph Nitchals; and Jon (Jessica) Nitchals; sister, Barb (Mark) Raboin; and brother Dick Nitchals. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Braden, Elijah, Kylee, Jaime, Jasmine, Brooklyn, Zaylee, Kaleb, Maia, Adrian, Wren, and JoJo. And step grandchildren Anthony, Shawna, Travis, and Zachary.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Sally Nitchals, and his brother Duane Nitchals.
A celebration of life will be held August 27th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Joe Hoye Park in Estherville, Iowa. Food and refreshments will be provided.
