A Celebration of Life for Alice Emma Metzger, 73, of Estherville, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at The Pub in Wallingford. She died on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Alice Emma Metzger, the daughter of Donald and Marjorie (Carrigan) Sherling was born Jan. 6, 1949, in Clinton, Iowa. Alice received her education and graduated from Lincoln Central High School.
In October of 1966, she was united in marriage to John Metzger Jr. The couple made their home in Estherville. She retired from Berkley.
Alice enjoyed watching birds, loved animals, especially dogs, plants, and drinking beer and socializing. She was the best at cleaning fish, and everyone loved her wild rice.
Left to cherish Alice’s memory are her children, Howard Metzger, Shane Metzger, and Helen (Mike) Larsen; grandchildren, Brody and Hannah Metzger, Jacob Metzger, Ben (Emily) Larsen, and Shae Larsen; great-grandchildren, Kendal and Mya Larsen and Kinsley, Everley and Haisley; siblings, Alene Rosburg, Allan and Kathy Sherling, Albert and Holly Sherling, Joe and Lori Sherling, and Sue and Daryl Madison; special friends Amy Nissen and Sue Snyder; as well as many other extended family and friends.
She has been preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marg (Carrigan) Sherling and her ex-husband, John Metzger.
