Funeral services for Wayne E. Callahan, 65, of Estherville, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at First Christian Church in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He passed away at his home in Estherville on January 30, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Wayne E. Callahan, son of James and Lola (Smith) Callahan, was born in Estherville, IA on July 13, 1954.
Wayne attended and graduated from Estherville High School in 1973. He then attended ILCC. Wayne worked as a laborer throughout the years at IBP in Hartley, Polaris, and Forbes Meat Locker. He was united in marriage to Linda Christensen on April 8, 2017 in Estherville.
Wayne was a member at First Christian Church in Estherville. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Wayne dominated events at the Senior Games. He was a Hawkeye Fan. He enjoyed attending sporting events, umpiring little leagues games, watching movies, hunting, fishing, and eating good food.
Wayne is survived by his wife Linda of Estherville; his children Robin (Adam) Foster of Kalona, IA, Alex (Jeni) Callahan of Tiffin, IA; his step-children Jina (Jason) Wood of Cherokee, IA, Joel Broich of Alta, IA; and Jessica (Andy) Schultz of LeMars, IA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Braydon, Elise, and Zachary Foster, Brooklyn Wissbaum, Jaylyn and Taylor Vandervort, and Solomon, Audrianna, and Joseph Schultz. He is also survived by his siblings Keith Callahan of Wilmington, OH and Linda Winter of Jackson, MN; nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Wayne is preceded in death by his grandparents, and his parents Jim and Lola Callahan.
