Warriors post 2-1 record in final duals of 2021

SWEA CITY — The North Union wrestlers wrapped up the pre-Christmas schedule, going 2-1 at a home meet on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
The Warriors defeated Forest City 51-30 and Rockford 63-10 but lost 72-9 to Nashua-Plainfield.
There were eight contested matches against Forest City with each team winning four. For the Warriors, Kacey Hamsmith (170) won by fall in 27 seconds over James Hagen, Kaleb Lufkin (182) won 10-3 over Tommy Hughes, Landon Price (120) won by fall in 31 seconds and Liam Kollasch (126) won by fall in 49 seconds. North Union’s Talan Priester (138), Dalton Tobin (145), Kolton Walter (285), Ethan Preston (106), and Koen Zotz (113) all received forfeits.
The Rockford dual featured just four contested matches with North Union winning three of them. Gavin Morphew (132) won by fall in 33 seconds over Keaton Crowe, Kolton Walter (285) won an 8-4 decision over Brooks Hoffman, and Ethan Preston (106) won by fall in 1:55 over Garrett Medlin.
For the Warriors, Gavyn Morphew (132), Talan Priester (138), Dalton Tobin (145), Kaden Laabs (152), Lucas Dreyer (160), Kace Hamsmith (170), Kaleb Lufkin (182), Landon Price (113), and Liam Kollasch (120) all received forfeits.
North Union had just two wins against Nashua-Plainfield. Brennan Bollinger (220) won by fall in 56 seconds over Isaac Jones and Landon Price (113) won a 9-3 decision over Nic Brase.
North Union returns to action on Jan. 6, 2022, with a quadrangular meet hosted by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. Other teams at that dual will be Eagle Grove and West Hancock. The Warriors travel to Graettinger’s tournament on Saturday, Jan. 8.
