Newly elected mayor, council members sworn in today

The Estherville City Council will meet Monday, Dec. 16, 2019 at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of city hall. The council will consider a resolution awarding the contract regarding the 2019 Central Ave. Bridge project.

The council will also review economic updates from Kiley Miller of Iowa Lakes Corridor, and Lyle Hevern, Estherville and Emmet County Economic Development Director. Miller will discuss the city's investment in the Corridor for 2020-2024. The council will also review for acceptance the canvassing of the 2019 city election and special run-off election and record the same.

The council will appoint two-year terms from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2022 for city clerk/treasurer, deputy city clerk, city attorney, and fire chief.

The council will consider appointments to the planning & zoning commission to fill the vacancy of Roy Gage to April 2021 and the Estherville Area Growth Partnership to fill the vacancy of Roger Guge. The council will swear in the mayor and elected council members.

The council will also consider adopting a preliminary resolution for the proposed special assessment project: 2020 curb & gutter improvements. The council will be requested to authorize Forsyth Law Office to proceed with eliminating a minimum housing code violation and renew a wastewater treatment agreement with GKN Armstrong Wheels, and will consider a development agreement for a forgivable loan in assistance of a child care center.
