A Celebration of Life for Mae Rose Eide, 100, of Estherville, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Lori Westfall officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91, both of Estherville. She passed away at Aspire Nursing Home in Estherville on May 19, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m.,. Saturday at the funeral chapel in Estherville.
Mae Rose Eide, the daughter of Thorwald and Elma (Dick) Anderson, was born on July 20, 1924, in Estherville, Iowa.
Mae Rose attended and graduated from Gruver High School. Following graduation she attended beauty school in Des Moines. On January 6, 1945, Mae Rose joined the United States Army, she served as a clerk and supported the deployed soldiers during World War II. She was honorably discharged on December 7, 1945. She returned to Iowa and was united in marriage to Cecil Eide on September 26, 1948. The couple made their home in rural Estherville. Mae Rose spent her time raising their children and farming with her husband.
Mae Rose was a member of the First Christian Church of Estherville. She was also a member of the VFW Post 3388 of Estherville. Mae Rose enjoyed collecting chickens of all kinds. She also enjoyed collecting rocks and flowers.
Mae Rose is survived by her children Thorwald Eide and his wife, Heide of The Villages, Florida; Michael Eide and his wife, Joann of Severn, Maryland; Rosemary Clouse and her husband, John of Ruthven, Iowa; daughter-in-law Polly Eide of Cedar Falls, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and her brother Oliver Anderson of Estherville.
Mae Rose is preceded in death by her parents Thorwald and Elma, her husband, Cecil and their son, John. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: infant Francis Edward Anderson, Harold (Frances) Anderson, Emmet (Carl) Griese, Francis “Sport” (Edna) Anderson, Edith (Doug) Brant, Lars (Olive) Anderson, Lester (Betty) Anderson, and sister-in-law Marvel Anderson.
