A memorial service for Lucille M. Guinn, 97, of Armstrong, was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong with Vicar Kim Kacmarynski officiating. Interment was at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. She passed away on March 22, 2025, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa.

Lucille Myrtle Guinn was born on January 4, 1928, in Ringsted, Iowa to Milo Earl and Anna Marie (Gram) Kesler.  

Lucille attended country school and graduated from Estherville High School in 1945. She then attended one year of college at Estherville Junior College. On September 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ormal Guinn at Estherville Lutheran Church. The couple farmed for many years. Lucille helped on the farm and took care of the house and their children. When they retired from farming, they enjoyed 19 winters in Arizona and then another 24 winters in Texas. She liked to golf and fish. Lucille enjoyed playing cards and all types of games.

Lucille was an active member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, where she was involved in many activities. In her younger years, she was a cub scout leader.

Left to cherish Lucille’s memory are her children, Pat (Arnie) DeJoode of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Gene (Lisa) Guinn of Fairmont; Deb (Jerry) Williamson of Holyoke, Colorado; grandchildren, Troy (Michelle) DeJoode, Adam DeJoode, Nicole (Jesson) Salyards, Kristin (Daniel) Koch; great grandchildren, Chase DeJoode, Jackson DeJoode, Jules DeJoode, Haley Koch, Eli Koch, Lydia Salyards, Joel Salyards;  sisters Irene (Barton) Evans of Estherville and Linda (Roger) Simons of Webb, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 73 years Ormal; great grandchildren, Carson and Claire DeJoode; and brother Milo ”Junior” (Delores)  Kesler.
