Funeral services for Larry Crees, 71, of Estherville, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville.
Fireman’s Last Call will be conducted by the Estherville Fire Department. Larry passed away on May 19, 2025, at Avera MaKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, at the funeral chapel in Estherville.
Larry Ray Crees was born on April 4, 1954, in Estherville, Iowa to Lawrence and Geraldine (Steele) Crees.
Larry graduated from Estherville High School in 1973. In 1974, he was united in marriage to Lynette Mahin at Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Emmet County. The couple made their home in Estherville for their entire marriage. Larry worked as an Auto Body Technician for Motor Inn for many years. He had a passion for working on classic vehicles and restoring them to their former glory. He retired from AGCO in 2019 after 16 years of employment there. Larry was a dedicated member of the Estherville Fire Department for over 27 years. He also served on the Estherville Ambulance Service for many years as well. He had a lot of interests in life including fishing year-round and taking motorcycle trips, but he hated moving snow. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his sons Ben (Angie) Crees of Jackson, Minnesota and Jesse (Tara) Crees of Brandon, South Dakota; his grandchildren Gavin Mulder and Alexis Crees and Bailee and Grayson Crees; his sister Terry McCubbins of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his best friend, Lonnie Thorsland; and a special friend, Lynette Sorbo.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Lynette Crees, his parents, Lawrence and Geraldine (Steele) Crees, and a brother Dwaine Crees.
