Julie Mae Besaw, the daughter of Herb and Mary Lou (Hanson) Besaw was born on May 24, 1956 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She died on February 17, 2023, at Lake Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake, IA, at the age of 66 years.
Julie graduated from Graettinger High School before running J&H Mobile in Terril. She then moved to Colorado with her children, where she worked for RFTA doing administrative work. Julie retired from Garfield County Human Services in 2020. She then moved back to Estherville, IA to live out her retirement at “The Farm”.
In her free time, Julie enjoyed Bunko, Bingo, traveling, taking her dogs Princess, Brooklynn and Chuck into town to get pup cups, line dancing, playing darts and going to drag races, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and friends. As a devout Catholic, she was very involved with church activities. She was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America as Cub Master for Troop 242 in Basalt, CO.
Julie is survived by her children, Joshua (Sandra) Kuper, AZ, Lizabeth Ligon, TX and Mark (Danny) Kuper, Columbia; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Raymond Reedy, CO, Herb (Jane) Besaw, IA, and Scott (Tina) Albrant, IA, Dave (Kay) Besaw IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Mary Lou Besaw, and siblings, Roy Reedy, Lonny Besaw, and Colleen Besaw.
Per Julie’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on February 25, 2022 at 3390 110th St. Estherville, IA 51334.
