Private family services were held for Janice Valen, 65, of Papillion, Nebraska. Interment was held at Palestine Lutheran cemetery, Dolliver. Janice died on October 14, 2021 at her home in Papillion, Nebraska.
Janice Kay Valen, the daughter of LaVerne and Marian (Peterson) Valen, was born on February 7, 1956 in Estherville, Iowa.
Janice graduated from Lincoln Central High School in 1974 before attending Iowa Lakes Community College. She moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1977 where she worked for GD & A Advertising as an office manager until 2002, when she moved to Omaha, Nebraska. There she worked for Lift Solutions, Inc. until she retired in 2015.
Janice was very meticulous and organized both professionally and personally. She was a very talented artist and enjoyed creating oil and acrylic paintings, and very detailed pencil drawings as well as sewing, needlework and various crafts.  She was an excellent cook and baker and delighted in sharing her baked goods with friends and family, especially during the holidays. Her annual holiday baking event with her sister and nieces was a highlight of the season every year. She loved spending time with her sister and all her nieces.
Janice loved horses and horseback riding and spending time camping, hiking, & fishing in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She loved the farm and all animals. Her pets were a big part of her family and one of the biggest parts of her day and life. She faithfully donated to numerous pet and wild animal shelters, rescues, and wildlife reserves. She was always the first person to remember a birthday or other special occasion with a very heartfelt personalized card.
She was a past member of Palestine Lutheran Church in Dolliver, Iowa and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Papillion.
Left to cherish Janice’s memory are her siblings, Larry Valen of Estherville; Joni Parks and husband, Eric of Papillion, Nebraska; her nieces, Katie Parks; Brittany Robison and her husband, Scott; Courtney Sindergard and her husband, Shane; Tea Parks; and Jaedyn Parks all of Papillion, Nebraska.
She is preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Marian Valen, her sister, Eileen Klem and her brother-in-law, Larry Klem.
