Frank D. Huntley the son of Ben and Edith (Laidig) Huntley was born November 12, 1948, in Estherville, Iowa.
Frank grew up on the farm and worked his whole life on the family farm. He attended Dolliver school and decided to farm full time with his Dad just a few months before he was supposed to finish high school. Frank was a member to the Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Dolliver where he was baptized and confirmed. He expressed when he was younger he wanted to grow up to be a preacher.
On September 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Vicky Reinhardt at United Methodist Church in Estherville. The couple made their home in rural Dolliver and raised their four children in his childhood home. Frank farmed up until his death. He raised crops, dairy cattle, hogs and stock cattle over the years. Frank and his brother had 220 milking cows and 1000 head of market hogs to tend to at one time. Frank and his brother Bill were the last dairy farmers in Emmet County when they sold their herd in 2001. He was a simple, hardworking man and was never too far away from the farm. He loved his family and found joy in the smiles of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Frank was also quite the chef in the kitchen. He was famous for his fried cheeseburgers, the best mac ‘n cheese and broiled cheese sandwiches. After many losses, he continued to find joy in life spending time with his family. He had a big heart and very soft hearted when it came to the ones he loved. Frank was also known as a jokester, he loved teasing his kids and grandkids. When he walked by you laying on the couch, your reflex was to pull in your feet so he didn’t pull your toes. Some would think he was scary with his gruff voice but he really was just a big teddy bear. He was always up for a good time, that is after all the work was done. Stories were told how he was a dare devil and was quite the dancer in his younger years. Music continued to bring him joy in his life as well. He loved just sitting in his pickup and listening to his music.
Left to cherish Frank’s memory are his children, Amy (Dean) Johnson, Aaron (Tara) Huntley, and Ashley (Chris) Hoffman; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Benadene (Paul) Peters and brother, Bill (Diana) Huntley.
He has been preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Edith; wife, Vicky; daughter, Amanda; grandsons, Desean Hoffman and Case Huntley sisters, Joyce Deling and Marilyn Ennis.
