Emmet Quinn
Mass of Christian Burial for Emmet Quinn, 81, of Estherville, was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Paul Kelly officiating. Interment was at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Bancroft with military honors by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91, both of Estherville. He passed away on Nov 21, 2022, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Emmet J. Quinn, the son of Bernard and Vera (Wolf) Quinn was born on July 23, 1941 in Lone Rock, Iowa.
Emmet attended Lone Rock Schools. He helped his parents with the farming, and they farmed throughout the area. In 1966, he was drafted into the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam Conflict as a mechanic, working on large equipment. Emmet was honorably discharged in 1968 and returned home to Iowa. He went to work for Rohlin Construction and Carlson Construction, doing road construction. Emmet moved to Estherville with his parents in 1978. He continued to help area farmers with field work throughout the years.
Emmet loved Belgium Draft horses. He enjoyed going to many shows, especially in Denver, Colorado. Listening to classic country music and watching RFD brought him great joy. Emmet enjoyed watching the Twins, Cubs, and Vikings. Emmet was a devoted uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. They learned a lot from the stories that he would tell them, even when his stories weren’t always completely true. Emmet was very social and knew everyone.
Emmet is survived by his special nephew Dennis (Linda) Quinn, special niece Linda Faber, special friend Lola Recher, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings Alan (Val) Quinn, Patricia Andrade, Rosemary Faber, and Rachel Gideon, and brother-in-law Jerry Hupp.
Emmet is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Agnes (Bill) Whitlow and Vera Hupp; brother-in-law Larry Faber; sister-in-law Loretta Quinn; nephews John Andrade, Billy Andrade, Daryl Quinn; and niece Paula Mart.
