Funeral services for Doris Lou Guge, 97, of Estherville, were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor David Hovinga officiating. Interment was at Union Stateline Cemetery, Petersburg, Minn. She died on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.
Doris Lou Guge, the daughter of Karl and Louise (Johnson) Guge, was born on May 28, 1925, on a farm near Estherville.
Doris attended country school before working in the kitchen at the hospital, the corn packing factory and later for Berkley’s. Doris enjoyed traveling with her parents and sister, she even got to go to the World’s Fair and saw the Statue of Liberty in New York.
Left to cherish her memory are her niece and nephew, LaVone Clemitson and her husband, Dale of Sioux City; Garald Guge and his wife, Sandi of Estherville; great nephew, Christopher Clemitson and his wife, Amy of Sioux City; and great-great nephew, Cole Clemitson of New York.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Louise (Johnson) Guge, her siblings, Donald (Dorothea) Guge, Corrine Guge, and an infant sister, Donna Jean Guge.
