Visitation for Denise Elizabeth (Ekren) Ehrig, 58, of Estherville was held Monday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. She passed away peacefully on January 6, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Denise Elizabeth (Ekren) Ehrig was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. As the daughter of Dennis and Janet (Young) Ekren, she was born on November 5, 1963, in Charles City, Iowa.
After high school, Denise extended her education at Iowa Lakes Community College majoring in computer programming.
Denise enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved going to Fort Defiance regularly to appreciate the outdoors. She was a social butterfly and could naturally hold a conversation with anyone. She was an utmost selfless person—giving shelter, food, and clothing to anyone who seemed in need.
She is survived by her children Nathan Ehrig, Elizabeth Ehrig, Shelby Ehrig, and Tyler (Kayla) Ehrig; 10 grandchildren, Atlas, Madison, Kordyn, London, Aryan, Leo, DJ, Jonny, Brielle, and Mesa; her siblings, Douglas Ekren Sr., Las Vegas, NV, Dawn Titus, Wallingford, IA, Deena (Lenny) Ekren-Kenworthy, Atlanta, GA, several nieces and nephews, her aunts and uncles Kathy (Woodrow), Carol, Laura, Jill (Rodney), extended family and the many, many symbolically adopted children.
Denise is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Janet (Young) Ekren and her uncles, Jim Young, Steve Young and Alyn Ritts.
