ROCKWELL CITY — Two Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire wrestlers made the finals in their respective brackets at the 2022 Twin Lakes Conference Tournament last Saturday.

However, both Cormick Currans (152) and Jordan Saul (170) came up a match short of a conference title and finished second. The Titans finished sixth overall in the team standings with 101.5 points.

Currans easily made the final in his bracket. He won by technical, 17-0 in the quarterfinal against South Central Calhoun’s Riley Timmerman. In the semifinal, he won by fall in 2:30 over Ty Katt of Southeast Valley. In the final, Jace Nelson-Brown of Emmetsburg was too much, as Currans lost by fall in 2:39. Nelson-Brown has just one loss this season. Currans is now 18-8.

For Saul, he pinned Alta-Aurelia’s Derek Baker in 59 seconds in the quarterfinal. The semifinal was tougher with Saul winning a 9-7 decision over Emmetsburg’s Cade Shirk.

In the final, Saul faced South Central Calhoun’s Blake McAlister, who hasn’t lost this season. Saul was unable to come up with the upset, as he lost by fall in 3:44. Saul is now 30-4 on the year.

Four GT/RA wrestlers finished fourth—Bryce Rosacker (145), Brody Simington (160), Clayton Schroeder (195), and Tanner Murray (220). All four wrestlers went 2-2 on the day.

Nolan Darr (182) paced fifth.

GT/RA travels to the Herb Irgens Invitational hosted by OABCIG this Friday and Saturday.
