City cleanup days planned in June

Posted

The City of Estherville is planning a citywide residential cleanup during the week of June 21-25. Discarded bulky items including furniture and miscellaneous items too large for city-metered bags will be collected. Your collection of items will be made ONLY on the day your residential solid waste is normally collected and items should be placed at the curb the night before. Call City Offices for approval on very large, heavy or unusual items.

Stickers for appliances ($20 per appliance) and E-waste ($10 per item) are available for purchase at City Offices on or before Friday, June 18. E-waste includes TVs, computers, monitors, cell phones, printers, gaming stations and any other electronic devices.

Normal weekly trash, garbage and small items should be placed in city-metered bags. Red barrel recycling will be suspended during this special cleanup.

Unacceptable items not to be collected include: vehicles & trailers, tires, landscape waste, lead acid batteries, fuel tanks, hazardous materials, construction/demolition materials and liquid products. The City reserves the right to refuse collection of certain items or inappropriate amounts of materials.

Please know items are not to be placed at the curb any sooner than the night before collection. Items placed too soon will be considered a nuisance and residents may be billed for the collection.

Be advised: Following this event, the city will step up efforts regarding Nuisance Abatements for property owners who are storing discarded items outside the home.
