Travis Schueller, superintendent of schools for North Union and North Kossuth school districts, prevailed with 153 votes in the election for Armstrong mayor on Tuesday. While early voting was available, all but a handful of voters came to the Emmet County courthouse on Election Day.
When Dave Grussing stepped in as Armstrong’s interim mayor in March, he told the Estherville News he was there to serve a purpose: stabilizing the embattled city government until a permanent mayor could be installed.
Nevertheless, 45 percent of voters, 122 total, wrote in Grussing.
The results become official after the Emmet County Board of Supervisors canvas at their Tuesday, May 18 meeting.
