Nitchals earns district, region, Lakes honors; Tendal joins her on Lakes First Team

A successful 15-7 season by the Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Basketball Team, both in overall and Lakes Conference play, resulted in postseason honors for four ELC players.

ELC sophomore Jaydan Nitchals, the team's leading scorer and rebounderwas named to the 2020 Iowa Girls Coaches Association Northwest Iowa Class 3A All District Team and to the Class 3A All Region 2 Team.

During the 2019-20 season, Nitchals scored 344 points, an average of 15.6 per game. She shot 42 percent (108-of-257) from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range (63-of-150). She also shot 67.7 percent (65-of-96) from the free throw line. She led the team with 155 rebounds and blocks with 16. She also had 35 steals and 29 assists. Concerning the All Region 2 Team, Nitchals had 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Midgets' 58-51 loss to Algona.

ELC's Lakes All-Conference

Nitchals and fellow sophomore Tendal both were selected to the 2020 Lakes All-Conference First Team, as the Midgets finished 7-3 in league play.

In conference games, Tendal led ELC with 165 points, an average of 16.5 per game, while shooting 38.8 percent (54-of-139) from the field, and 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from 3-point range. She also shot 73. 9 percent (34-of-46) from the free throw line. She had 49 rebounds, 21 assists and 20 steals.

Nitchals' conference stats include 123 points, an average of 12.3 per game. She shot 37.9 percent (39-of-103) from the field, including 39.3 percent 922-of-45 from 3-point range. She shot 65.7 percent (23-of-35) from the free throw line. She had 68 rebounds, 18 assists, 15 steals and seen blocked shots.

Freshman Jordyn Stokes earned Second Team All-Conference honors.

In league play, Stokes scored 116 points, an average of 11.6 per game. She shot 48.8 percent (40-of-82) from the field, including 60 percent (9-of-18) from 3-point range. She shot 71.1 percent (27-of-38) from the free throw line. She also had 28 rebounds, 21 steals and 17 assists.

Senior Jadynn Moore received Lakes Conference Honorable Mention.

In league play, Moore averaged 6.8 points per game while shooting 47.5 percent (28-of-59) from the field including 26.7 percent (4-of-15) from 3-point range She shot 80 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line. She also had 39 rebounds, 20 steals and four assists.
