She received her education in the Webb Schools and graduated May 13, 1948. On Feb. 25, 1951, Joyce was united in marriage to Ralph "Dutch" Shriner at her parents home in Webb. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Rodman until 1953 before moving to Sanborn, IA, for Dutch's job. Joyce worked for Vanderhaag Salvage as a bookkeeper while Dutch taught. Joyce was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, playing cards, her beloved Chicago Cubs, which she and Dutch went to see every winter in Mesa, Ariz., after Dutch retired. She loved being with her family, and always made sure to tell us, "Love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck!"
