Voter turnout tops 36 million as of 1pm CST

In 2014, 22 million voters turned in early ballots

The AP reports 36 million Americans voted early in this 2018 midterm election. Early voters in three states: Arizona, Texas and Nevada, have already surpassed the total voter turnout in those three states for the 2014 election, and poll numbers so far indicate voter turnout this year will exceed the 2014 totals by a wide margin before polls close. Additional states are on track to whiz past the 2014 total voter turnout before today's ballots are even counted. Exit polling shows many of these voters are first time voters. There could be an additional 60-75 million ballots cast today. Stay with the Estherville News for continuing election coverage throughout today and tonight.
