SPENCER - Estherville Lincoln Central won its second Lakes Conference match in a row in sweeping Spencer on Thursday, by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17.

"I thought we played really well tonight," said ELC senior Lindsey Jensen, one of three players with seven kills in the match. "We all stayed energetic and upbeat and it was just a lot of fun playing with everybody. All our hitters were on tonight because of our great setters!"

Along with Jensen, Kendall Evans and Sydney Swanson each had seven kills. Evans had 15 set assists and Brianna Fix had 12.

"Coming into this game we knew we had to have energy and let our mistakes go," said Evans. "We have really come together as a team and are having a lot of fun. We all had a good night and played a very solid game."

Serving, Jensen was 18-of-18 with four aces while Evans was 16-of-16 with one ace. Swanson and Dania Ponce Diaz were perfect from the serving line with nine and eight serves, respectively.

Defensively, Jensen led the back-row defense with 13 digs while Vanessa Woelber had 11 and Evans had 10. ELC had nine blocks with Evans, Jensen, Swanson and Woelber each with two.

"I thought we played a great game," said ELC coach Jean Jensen. It was probably our best nigh of actually attacking the ball. Our girls have really come together and on any given night, any one of them can be the leader of the team."

ELC (8-6 overall, 2-2 in the Lakes Conference) hosts North Union on Thursday for Pink Out Night, a fundraiser for Emmet County Relay for Life. The Midgets host their tournament next Saturday.

"Coming in as a senior it's by far my favorite year because we are all such good friends and play well together," said ELC senior Mya Gjerde. "Next Saturday we have our ELC tournament and hope to do really well at that. It will be fun getting more playing time on the weekends. We also love all the community support."
