ELC track season wraps up at State

DES MOINES - Estherville Lincoln Central athletes qualified in four events for the 2018 Iowa State Track and Field Championships this past week and the Midgets ended with their top finish on Saturday.

The sprint medley relay team won the first heat with a time of 1 minute 55.24 seconds to place 14th overall. The foursome included sophomore Riley Christoffer, junior Natalie Lausen, senior Morgan white with junior Hannah Olson anchoring with a 400.

For the girls' team, Christoffer competed in the 200-meter preliminaries on Thursday and finished 24th overall with a time of 27.85 seconds.

Also, White competed in the 2A long jump. She did not have her best day with a leap of 13 feet, 6 inches, placing her 22nd overall. Her season-best was 16 feet.

For the ELC boys, Taylor Myers ran the 3200-meter run on Thursday and placed 15th in Class 2A with a time of a 10:28.86. mid Prairie senior Floyd Evans won that event in 9:42.34-one of five 2A competitors to run the race under 10 minutes.
