NEWELL - Estherville Lincoln Central hung with Class 1A No. 4 Newell-Fonda for a while, but the Mustangs pulled away midway through the second quarter to build a 43-22 halftime lead. Newell-Fonda then put together a 21-8 third quarter to lead 64-30 and won 68-39.

ELC coach Don Martindale said his squad played some of their best ball in the first 12 minutes of the game, though ELC trailed 19-14 after one quarter.

"We just missed too many layups and lost some confidence," he said. "I didn't see one bad shot in the first half-we just missed some bunnies. We need to play the full 32 minutes and fight through adversity."

Morgan White led ELC with 16 points.

"She just didn't settle for the jumper and she got to the rim," said Martindale.
