Building a duplex

Estherville News Editorial

The drills in the back of the Estherville News office sound like the dentist's drill on hyperdrive. We're taking phone calls, designing ads, interviewing, writing, processing digital photos, and otherwise making this issue of the newspaper in the midst of walls being framed, drywall being attached, and a new look taking shape for our office.

It's all for a new office rental neighbor to the north. The south door we've always had is still open and our front desk is still running to greet you and help you with ads, subscriptions and more. We've joked about how much we will enjoy more togetherness. It might even be true.

We don't sit around here that much anyway. Most of us are out and about selling ads or collecting the county's news to bring to you.

The electrician is here running wires and cables in an attempt to cause minimal if any interruption in our electrical and internet service.

We're running a lean operation in an attempt to make the paper better than ever.

While it would be easy to say, "We cannot work in these horrible conditions!"?it's only temporary.

The office is in disarray, and the noise is, well, noisy. But we've put together one of the best issues of Our Hometown for August. We're expanding the way we present data, we're gearing up for the Emmet County Fair and Sweet Corn Days, we're rearranging our schedules to get state softball covered, it's already time to think about fall sports and activities, and to speed into the last half of the year.
